Famous and then forgotten in her own time, Edna St. Vincent Millay is well known today, and you’ve probably heard her poetry before, such as:
“My candle burns at both ends;
It will not last the night;
But ah, my foes and oh my friends—
It gives a lovely light!”
While primarily a poet, she also wrote plays, librettos, and novels, but most people today just remember a handful of poems and a bisexual butterfly.
